Text
Living in the country there wasn't a lot of entertainment. I remember riding the bicycle to Castlewellan (10 miles) to see the wedding of Princess Elizabeth, as she then was, in the cinema. We went on a few holidays - Bangor and Portrush. Sometimes, I rode the bicycle to Newcastle.I would have gone to social evenings in several Church halls too. We had different games, but no real dancing.I would have gone to friends homes. We entertained ourselves as there was no television those days. We listened to some good programmes on the radio. I always read a lot. I had special girls papers and books. Looking back it doesn't seem a very interesting time, but I never remember a time when I was bored. I was always happy.
