Text

Our house was always full of people at weekends. My granny had four sisters, mother,Maggie,Rachel and Lucy who all lived locally and congregated in gran's to catch up with the local gossip. The night usually ended with a sing song,as everyone in the family was musical. One played the mouth organ, another the violin and my mother even produced music from a comb wrapped in paper. I was always forced to stand on a stool and sing for my supper. I had many friends in Brookmount and we had great fun playing in the street. We swung round the lap posts, played ball up against the gable wall and played skipping in the street (not many cars around then). Sometimes we were allowed to go to the cinema, which I loved. I thought I was the star of the silver screen and dreamed my dreams of becoming a famous film star.
