Text

What is Bowls? Bowls is a science, a study of a lifetime. You may exhaust yourself, but never the subject. Bowls is a contest, a melee, calling for courage, skill and self control. It is a test of temper, a trial of honour, a revealer of character. Bowls afford the chance to play the man, act the gentleman. It reveals the sportsman who accepts victory or defeat with a grin. As a victor, of the vanquished, he shakes hands with his opponent, hoping for another day to play again with the same abounding friendship'.and when the great Scorer comes to write against your name, he marks not that you have won or lost, but that you played that glorious game of Bowls'
