Text

Some thirty five years ago we rented a cruiser on the Shannon to try out this cruising lark. I have been an enthusiast ever since. We have cruised almost every year since, sometimes three times in one year. In all those years we have not been tempted to buy our own boat, renting always from Emerald Star Cruisers in Carrick - on - Shannon. We have been to the end of navigation at Killaloe in Co Clare and as far up the Shannon Erne navigation as Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh in all sorts of weather both good and bad. The Shannon Erne navigation is four hundred miles long and I would estimate that we have traversed to length of it several times in those years. We have also cruised on liners in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean and found the experience extremely satisfying. I have compared the experience as being like going to sleep in a five star hotel every night and waking up the next morning in a different city. We have also visited Venice, Rome, New York and New Orleans to mention just a few destinations.
