Text
We also expanded our business by buying a run down confectionery and tobacconist shop in Glengormley. We gave up living in our rented semi detached home in Abbots Cross, Doagh Road, Whiteabbey, to use the rooms above the shop for living in. It was not ideal accommodation, but it cut down on expenses and avoided us getting into debt which was something we always avoided. The shop, ideally situated in the centre of Glengormley and close to where transport from Belfast to Glengormley turned, meant we opened the shop immediately we got up in the morning at 7.00 am and closed at 10.30 pm - often even later at special times like Easter or Christmas. Sunday however was our day of rest - to church in the morning and business paperwork often in the afternoon.
