Text

A few years after getting married, I thought it was time for the wife to try out the game of bowls, so she went down to a ladies rink day held at Cavehill on a Monday afternoon. When I asked her if she enjoyed it, he answer was 'I couldn't be bothered with that wee timid game_ѝ. I coaxed her to go the next Monday and the same response occurred. With a great to-do, I got her to go again and she arrived home elated that they had asked her to play in some league games. Quite remarkably, some years later, she was elected secretary of the Irish Women's Bowling Association and presidency also followed. Shortly after this she was selected for two international series playing for her country and so the two of us were well and truly married to the game of bowls. I went with her on some of the ladies matches including those to Israel, South Africa, New Zealand Sun City in America.
