About 1976 there was a bad flooding of the mill. A lot of destruction,and it never really recovered from it. As the girls had finished school,I looked for another job. They were looking for a technician at the Art College in Belfast,(part of the Ulster Polytechnic). I got the job and we looked for a house near Belfast. Holywood it was,I started in 1977,but we did not move house until 1978. The job was to help the students and keep the handlooms in order. It was a godsend for me,no worries about delivery or quality,my headaches were gone,literally.. Retirement was compulsory at 65 years of age,so on Nov. 2nd 1984 I was retired. They had difficulty of obtaining a replacement,so I stayed on part-time for a year,finally finishing after that time...
